Biography

Early Childhood and Education 

    Sandro Pozzi is a Spanish language print and television journalist. He is widely considered an expert on US politics and economic policy. 

    Sandro was born in Sevilla, Spain on October 22, 1972 to Italian businessman Mauro Pozzi and María Teresa Cortes. He is the oldest of three children.

    He studied journalism and graduated with a Bachelor´s degree from Ceade University in Sevilla. 

Professional Career

    Shortly after graduating, he went to Brussels and began working for Spanish news agency Europa Press. There, he covered all aspects of the European Union, eventually becoming the agency´s bureau chief. 

    In January 2000, he was recruited by Spanish daily El Pais to work as a correspondent in the Brussels bureau. He specialized in anti-trust, commerce, agriculture and trade, as well as NATO and European business. 

    In October 2003, he decided to leave Brussels and move to New York. Sandro has always said that it was a dream of his to live and work in New York City. He continued to work for El Pais on a freelance basis for the next sixteen years.

    Sandro continues to regard his time in New York as a life-changing experience. He has interviewed some of the most important business leaders, cultural icons and social change makers of our time and covered historic events. Throughout his time, he as always maintained that one of the most impactful stores for him was the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre on December 14, 2012 where 26 people, mostly children, were gunned down.

In January 2020, Sandro terminated his collaboration with El Pais. He maintains it was a timely break with the newspaper. Once the Coronovirus pandemic hit weeks later, he was able to dedicate his time to his young family. 

Later that year, he was recruited by Antonio García Ferreras to work for Spanish television station La Sexta. Sandro covered all aspects of the pandemic, the US elections, politics and breaking news from New York.

In July 2021, Sandro moved back to Sevilla with his family. He continues to collaborate with La Sexta, as well as other media outlets including radio, television and print. He focuses on geopolitics, and is widely considered one of the most influential analysts of US politics in the Spanish language. He is an expert on economic policy, finance, and trade. 

Personal Life

    Sandro met his wife, Victoria, while working in Brussels. She is a US citizen. They share two children and a dog.
